Become a Volunteer!

Community Nutrition Network and the Meals on Wheels Foundation take great pride in our volunteers and know they are an essential part in the fulfillment of our mission: providing nutritious meals and services to older adults in suburban Cook, Grundy, and Kendall Counties to improve their quality of life.  In our 2006 fiscal year (Oct. 1, 2005 – Sept. 30, 2006) over 940 volunteers gave their time and talents to CNN by serving and delivering meals and providing companionship to the seniors we serve.

By contacting a site manager in your area you can learn more about possible volunteering opportunities near you and also let the manager know of your interests and availability.  Visit our “Locations” page or click here for a list of these sites.   You can also click here to fill out the volunteer application.

Group-Dining Site Volunteers

Our group sites offer a wide array of volunteer opportunities. Whether you enjoy helping with food service, activities, trips, fundraising or clerical work, CNN has an opportunity for you.  The Site Manager at each location can help you find a good match for your interests.  (The Des Plaines and LaGrange sites do not have Group-Dining)

Home-Delivery Volunteers

Our Home-Delivered Meals program always needs more drivers, servers, and packers.  Volunteers can work as little as 1 hour per week delivering a meal route.  We welcome and encourage businesses and organizations to "adopt" a route.  Please call the nutrition site location in your area for details.  (The Maywood, Morton Grove, Rich Township, and Schaumburg sites are not Home-Delivery meal hubs)
